Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio / Romeo Castellucci (IT)

Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso

Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio’s extraordinary interpretation of Dante’s Divine Comedy, an ‘unrepresentable’ text according to Romeo Castellucci, will be presented as a video-installation in the majestic space of la Cattedrale. The trilogy, of which Uovo showed Paradiso in 2009 is one of Castellucci’s most multifaceted and complex works, which has involved the participation of several actors and walk-ons and Scott Gibbon’s musical collaboration. The film of Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso was realised by the French-German television channel Arte during the performances of three works at the Avignon festival in 2008, which were set in several non-theatrical spaces of the Provencal town. The French paper Le Monde has described the trilogy as one of the ten cultural artefacts that have marked the first decade of the new mellenium.
